The Old school was originally Mossley School, opened in 1892. The building had very basic facilities such as outside toilets, single glazed windows and 2 rooms to teach multiple classes. The building was used as a school up until 1973. The building never really had its facilities updated accept from an indoor toilet and thicker single glass windows, due to the building only being used for small amounts of time such as dance classes, yoga and Scouts.
The county council for example and other committees rented the building out for children's parties and this is where M.A.S.K saw the perfect place to open up in 1999. Due to small numbers of children, the building was perfect but over time as interest increased, amenities needed upgrading. The upgrading began in July to September 1999, building the kitchen, upgrading flooring and building storage facilities. Most recently, the biggest upgrade occurred in 2014 installing a new boiler, roof, toilets etc.
The company was set up by Karen Hartles and various partners in 1999, just as their own children were about to go into primary school. The company has constantly expanded, hiring many people over the years, giving the potential teachers and assessors a great place to start there career. As the company grew, many children from St.Mary's were coming to Mossley meaning we were limited to taking on a handful of kids, so in 2004, M.A.S.K opened up a second facility located at St.Mary's school providing the exact same services.
